The Club hosted it’s first NRA Women On Target Instructional Shooting Clinic this past Saturday. We had 33 ladies in attendance and judging by the smiles on their faces they all had a great time making the event a huge success. President Jim Harlan dedicated the event to our late Secretary and Treasurer Richard “Stimpy” Kohli who was instrumental in the organizing and planning of this event.
Each was instructed on basic firearm and range safety, then we cut them loose on the range to be introduced and instructed on a variety of different firearm types. On the pistol side of the range they could choose from different models of pistols chambered in .22LR, 22 WMR, .38 Special, 9mm and .45 ACP.
On the rifle side of the range the ladies could choose between semi-automatic and pump-action rimfire rifles, several different AR-15 rifles, and a bolt-action varmint rifle in .223 Remington. We also setup clay bird holders and a trot line with balloons filled with helium on the rifle side of the range where the ladies could shoot several different 12 and 20-gauge shotguns.
We would like to thank all of our Officers, Directors and members who donated their time and effort to help ensure this event was a success. Special thanks to those members who donated ammunition and/or the use of their firearms for the event, and especially to Director Amy Lauf who prepared the delicious lunch for everyone.
We are already looking forward to hosting another Women On Target event next year.
