At the directors meeting held on 8/28/2016 many issues was discussed, and some changes will be coming soon:
The most important issue that is concerning members, is that the club did an audit of the past 2015 financial year and it was discovered that equaled out to be $11.00 more per person than what is being brought in, or in other words operating cost equaled out to be roughly $51.00 per member. The club has been relying on moneys brought in from raffles, club events, and other projects to make ends meet. With that said starting January 2017 membership dues will be raised $10.00 per year to cover club cost, membership per year will now be $50.00 for a family membership. This same increase will also includes law enforcement memberships. In addition to help the club with projected year budgets, there will be a cut off date for the $50.00 dues by April first. Due’s will increase another $10.00 for a total of $60.00 and this only applies to renewals done after April first. This is to encourage members to get there dues in early. New memberships will be done as they have been done in the past by having them pay a pro-rated dues, for the remainder of the year, with an addition of paying the following years dues. For example if a new member signs up in July they would pay the remainder of the year (6 months) plus the next year, or $25 for the current year and $50 for the following year for a total of $75.00. There will be a mailer sent out at the beginning of December reminding members of the annual meeting, and to send their dues in. The directors are asking that members wishing to attend the annual meeting to RSVP the club as done in past to project attendance, and order proper amount of food.
Another issue that was brought up was wasteful use of targets, there has been reports of unused targets being found in the trash cans, or left out under the brass buckets ETC. The directors want to keep the targets on hand for club member usage, to continue to do this members need to put back unused targets. There will also be a donation cup put out, if you use a lot of targets would you please consider placing a donation to help our club maintain the expense of the targets.
Another issue that has been of confusion is BSRPC’s stance on concealed carry at the range. It has been clarified that the directors support concealed carry, and besides special events where noted, concealed carry is completely welcomed on the grounds of Black Swamp Rifle and pistol club. All we ask is that the laws be followed, and safety to be the main concern.
The gun show is starting up soon, and we are looking for members to volunteer to work at the table. We will issue the member a pass to enter the show for free, as a thank you for taking time out to help out. Adam Williams will be calling members to ask for show help. If you would be interested in working these events please Contact Adam. Our first raffle will be a Dillon press, that will be shipped directly to the winning ticket holders house. There has been a lot of work and projects done this summer, and there are many more projects and improvements planed for the up coming years. If you have any suggestions, or wish to volunteer please contact one of the directors. Our goal is to make this the best club around.
