General Information
The Black Swamp Rifle & Pistol Club proudly hosts the Northwest Ohio Bench Rest Shooters (NWOBRS) monthly from April through November.
Centerfire Benchrest matches are fired at 100 and 200 yards and are conducted as either Group Matches or Score Matches, depending on the schedule.
- Entry Fee: $15 per rifle
- Bench Assignments: Random draw before each match
- Gates Open: 10:00 AM
- Match Begins: 12:00 PM
Course of Fire
A standard match consists of:
- Five targets
- Five record shots per target
- Seven-minute time limit per target
- Unlimited sighter shots within the seven-minute time limit
The fifth target includes the traditional Smiley Shot challenge.
Each competitor fires one shot attempting to place the bullet through the hole in the center of the Smiley target.
Awards
Cash prizes are awarded for:
- First, Second, and Third Lowest Aggregate Score in each class
- Smallest Group in each class
- Closest Shot to the Smiley target center
Prize amounts vary based on the number of competitors.
Rifle Classes
Factory Class
Factory production rifles meeting NWOBRS requirements.
Varmint (Field Gun)
- Factory receiver required.
- Rifle must be chambered in a factory-offered cartridge.
- Aftermarket stocks are permitted.
- Bedding is permitted.
- Trigger work is permitted.
- Flat-bottom stocks are not permitted.
Open Class
Open Class follows the NBRSA / IBS Heavy Varmint Rifle rules.
Heavy Varmint rifles:
- Maximum weight: 13½ pounds, including sights.
- Forearm:
- Flat or convex.
- Maximum width: 3 inches.
- Barrel:
- Minimum length: 18 inches forward of the bolt face.
- Maximum diameter: 1.250 inches for the first 5 inches forward of the bolt face.
- From that point forward, the barrel must taper to a maximum muzzle diameter of 0.900 inches at 29 inches.
